seeing things for what they are is the hardest thing we'll ever do
Student Stories started as a campaign to develop an image. It was a focus piece that we could use for the web and social media. What we didn’t realize is that it became a powerful recruitment tool. These shorts were developed for the Department of Film at the University of Kansas before social media was a viable means of marketing, mainly for our website and then as they developed, shared on our social media channels.
We discovered that although this was originally more of an image piece, what it became was dictated by the content and the common thread that was running throughout all of these very unique situations. The thread being great storytelling from trained storytellers. By choosing some of our top students we were letting the talent of our students send the message that “we train storytellers” Isn’t that beautiful?
