Part of a series of image pieces for the Department of Film and the University of Kansas, Student Stories began as a way to provide a voice for the student body and eventually set the tone for what students wanted out of their education. Sometimes your strategy changes based on the direction of the content.
Video is such an organic medium. It is really not about the flashy visuals. If there is no underlying story you have no substance. We use the visuals to enhance the story. The great thing about this campaign is that we allowed students to just tell their story and we started to hear a common thread. I was inspired myself at times and knew that any high-schooler watching would get a better idea of the college experience and feel that they may have a clearer career path after hearing these testimonies.
